No. 16 Women’s Tennis Welcomes Hawaii

SAN DIEGO – The No. 16 San Diego women's tennis program (4-2, 0-0 WCC) returns to action after 12 days off, hosting Hawaii (3-3, 0-0 Big West) on Friday at 2 p.m., at the Hogan Tennis Center.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Toreros recorded a huge weekend, opening with a 4-3 victory over then No. 16 USC on Feb. 3, before defeating then No. 24 Arizona State, 4-1, on Feb. 4 at the Hogan Tennis Center.
  • Claudia De Las Heras won a three-set thriller over No. 33 Snow Han to clinch the win over USC, while Kailey Evans and Kristina Nordikyan were named the WCC Doubles Team of the Week for their efforts.
 
OPPONENT HISTORY
  • San Diego is 15-4 all-time against the Rainbow Wãhine, winning the last matchup, 5-2, back on Feb. 18, 2023.
  • De Las Heras recorded the clinching match last season, defeating Nikola Homolkova, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4).
 
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
  • San Diego rises to a high of No. 16 in the nation this week and continues to close in on the program-high record of No. 14.

  • San Diego was picked second in the WCC preseason poll, finishing only behind Pepperdine.
