HOUSTON, Texas – The No. 12 San Diego women's tennis program (6-3, 0-0 WCC) returned to the win column on Sunday morning, rolling to a 4-0 win over Rice (3-6, 0-0 AAC) at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Toreros opened the morning with a terrific showing in doubles and jumped out to an early 1-0 lead.
- Jordyn McBride and Kristina Nordikyan cruised in their match, while No. 1 and No. 3 doubles also earned early breaks.
- In the end, Filippa Bruu-Syversen and Claudia De Las Heras would clinch first in a 6-4 win.
- The hot start would continue into singles, as the Toreros took every first set in five of six matches.
- Bruu-Syversen quickly breezed through a 6-0, 6-0 win, with her doubles partner De Las Heras right behind her in a 6-3, 6-2.
- With the match wrapping up quickly, it would be Mia Mack who recorded the decisive point, leaving the remaining matches abandoned after her 6-1, 6-2 win.
NEXT UP
- The Toreros will have a break in dual match action, before hosting San Diego State on Mar. 6 at 2 p.m., at the Hogan Tennis Center.
