Danilov Named WCC Singles Player of the Week

SAN DIEGO – After two convincing victories at the No. 3 singles position, graduate student Savriyan Danilov has been named the West Coast Conference Singles Player of the Week, as the conference  announced on Tuesday.
 
The award is the first in the collegiate career of Danilov, who joined the Toreros this season.
 
Danilov shined in two big wins over Portland and Gonzaga, earning a pair of victories at No. 3 singles. Danilov cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Luka Vukovic in a 4-0 win over Portland on Saturday, before rolling past Leon Roider of Gonzaga, 6-0, 6-1 on Sunday to help the Toreros roll to another 4-0 win. The Moscow, Russia native is now 17-8 in singles this season, including 12-3 in dual match play and has now won seven of his last nine matches.
 
San Diego will wrap up their regular season on Saturday at 2:30 p.m., hosting LMU at the Hogan Tennis Center.
