Hubble and Jaimes Continue Record-Breaking Season for Track & Field

IRVINE, CA – San Diego Track & Field traveled to UC Irvine last weekend and returned home with three new school records in the 3km steeplechase and 400m hurdles by Daniella Hubble and the mile by Aryam Jaimes.

The Toreros raced on both Friday and Saturday at the Steve Scott Invitational in Irvine, CA. Friday was highlighted by a new school record in the 3km steeplechase by Daniella Hubble, who ran an impressive 10:36.56. After running this time, she now ranks 53rd in the west and is chasing the top 48 spots to qualify for regionals.

"We had a good weekend overall, with multiple school records and personal bests," said head coach William Guarino after the weekend. "Daniella Hubble stole the show by racing patiently and broke her own personal record, which also happened to be the school record."

USD saw continued success on Saturday with a school record in the mile by Aryam Jaimes, who finished with a time of 5:05.69 coming in 4th place in her heat. Later that day, Hubble set yet another record in the 400m hurdles with a 1:10.63 and came in 5th place.

"Ari ran really well in her heat and was also paced by Daniella in the first 800m of that race. It was great to see them working together and it was truly a special moment to see Ari get the school record."

The Toreros will be back in action this weekend at the Oxy Invitational, which will be the conclusion of the season for most of the team, and an opportunity for Daniella Hubble to potentially qualify for regionals.
