SAN DIEGO – Head coach
Nadia Abdala and the San Diego women's tennis program have added another talented incoming freshman from the international circuit, signing
Hannah Read, who will join the program for the 2024-25 season.
Hailing from St. Albans, England, Read joins the Toreros after a standout career on the junior international circuit, reaching a career-high of No. 86 in the ITF Junior rankings. Notably, Read earned a wild card to the 2023 Wimbledon Junior Championships, where she matched up against the 2024 French Open junior champion Tereza Valentova.
Most recently, Read won a J60 event in Warsaw, Poland on Feb. 26, 2023, and also tallied a J100 title the week prior in Trnava, Slovakia. In addition, Read has taken home a J4 title in Vierumaki, Finland and J5 victories in Edinburgh, U.K., and Bradfield, U.K.
As of today, Read currently ranks as Great Britain's No. 10 ranked junior girls player and has ranked even higher among her fellow nationals in her budding career.
Read will join the Toreros as a freshman alongside fellow newcomer
Mio Mushika in the fall of 2024.
