COLLEGE STATION, Texas – San Diego Women's Tennis concluded a match opposite second-ranked Texas A&M on Friday evening with a 1-6 loss at the hands of the Aggies. 
 
The lone USD point came off a singles win from ITA No. 105 Hannah Read over No. 102 Daria Smetannikov, 6-4, 6-4 in straight sets.
 
Redshirt-senior Kailey Evans, ITA No. 31 and previously undefeated, managed to force a third set against her opponent Mary Stoiana — who ranks fourth in the nation — but ultimately fell short in the tiebreaker, 5-10. 
 
Sophomore Kristina Nordikyan was just behind, also taking a set against her opponent but falling in the third set tiebreaker, 6-10.
 
Claudia de las Heras, Anni Puls, and Gabby Gregg all fell in their dual matches, de las Heras to the number 15 ranked player in the nation. USD dropped the doubles point on courts two and three.
 
The Toreros will be back in action tomorrow, traveling south to Houston to face the Arizona Wildcats in a neutral site match on the Rice campus at 10 a.m. PT.
