SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Kali Engeman has been named the WCC Defensive Player of the Week for October 20, 2025, the West Coast Conference announced on Monday morning, giving USD a conference award for a sixth straight week.

Engeman headlined a strong San Diego defensive effort over the weekend, totaling 13 blocks (three solo) and two digs as the Toreros went on the road and defeated Washington State and Seattle U. She had six digs (two solo) on Thursday night as the Toreros swept the Cougars, then added six more (one solo) and two digs on Saturday afternoon in a 3-1 win against the Redhawks.

Her efforts helped the Toreros hold WSU and SU to a combined .120 hitting percentage across both matches.

This is Engeman's first career WCC weekly award, and she joins BayLea Sparks (September 1) and Maya Kitna (September 15) as the third Torero to receive the conference's Defensive Player of the Week nod in 2025.

Monday's recognition marks the Toreros' conference-leading 11th weekly WCC accolade of 2025, a haul that has been earned by seven different players. USD has captured a weekly conference honor in seven of the season's eight weeks so far, including an award in each of the last six announcements dating back to September 15.

After an off night on Thursday, Engeman and the Toreros will be back in action this Saturday, October 28, when they return home to host Washington State at the Jenny Craig Pavilion. First serve against the Cougars is set for 12:00 p.m.
