I’m beyond excited for our spring racing schedule, and I know our guys are itching to go as well. I think it’s the most comprehensive set of races during my time here.

On April 12, the Toreros head to the East Coast for the Schuylkill River Invite in Philadelphia.

Combined, the Redwood Shores Invite and the Schuylkill River Invite will bring together several of the nation’s top programs to be ranked in. Both of those constitute great opportunities for us.

Championship season begins on April 26 and 27 in Sacramento, Calif. on Lake Natoma for the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships. On May 17 and 18 USD will return to Sac Town and Lake Natoma for the first ever Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships. The Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championship Regatta will take place from May 30–June 1, 2025 at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J.

The spring blossoms follow a monumental fall for San Diego men's rowing, which included a move to a western super-conference and a gold medal at a world-famous regatta.

Joining a Super-Conference

In a landmark move for West Coast rowing, the University of San Diego Athletics announced on Dec. 2 that it's men's rowing program would join the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, beginning with the coming 2025 season. The move combines all eight of the NCAA Division I programs on the West Coast: the four teams that previously competed in the Pac-12 Conference (California, Stanford, Oregon State and Washington), with the four teams that competed in the Western Sprints (San Diego, Gonzaga, Santa Clara and UC San Diego), into a uniform conference.

Gold on the Biggest Stage

The Toreros also enter the spring season following a historical fall campaign, highlighted by a blow-away gold medal finish at the highly touted Head of the Charles.

In the biggest regatta of the year, the San Diego 4+ shined, winning their Head of the Charles River Regatta race on by a comfortable margin, the first title at rowing's most prestigious event in program history.

The Toreros won the Men's Collegiate Fours championship by 26.85 seconds, leading through each of the checkpoints on Boston's famous Charles River.
