SAN DIEGO – USD Women's Tennis dropped a 4-0 contest to 35
th-ranked Arizona State at the Hogan Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
The bruised, 29
th-ranked ranked, Toreros did see the return of
Kailey Evans into the lineup, who was limited by injury and the talented ASU players on main court. The match was closer than the scoreline indicates as all three doubles matches were decided by two games, while three of the singles matches had 12-plus game sets and a fourth went three sets.
It was San Diego that got out front first, as freshman
Gabby Gregg and sophomore
Kristina Nordikyan combined for a 6-4 win on court three. Arizona State responded, however, taking 3-3 ties on the first two courts to 6-4 wins of their own, claiming the doubles point.
In singles play, freshman
Anni Puls was the first to fall, 0-6, 3-6 on court five. Then, senior
Claudia de las Heras, also battling through injury, was topped on court two by national No. 40 Sara Svetac, 6-2, 6-3. On main court, the ITA No. 26 Evans succumbed to No. 34 Emilija Tverijonaite, 6-3, 7-5.

The Toreros return for a third match in as many days at the Hogan Tennis Center, taking on No. 26 Washington at noon Sunday.
