SAN DIEGO — Five Toreros drove in a run and three had multiple RBIs on Saturday night as San Diego baseball (5-21, 2-3 WCC) dominated Pepperdine (6-20, 2-3 WCC) from start to finish in a 10-0 mercy-rule victory at Fowler Park.
Jack Gurevitch bookended USD's scoring efforts, kicking things off with an RBI single in the bottom of the third inning before ending the game in the bottom of the seventh by doubling home the Toreros' 10th run of the game.
He and graduate transfer
AJ Anzai led the way for San Diego at the plate, each notching a trio of RBIs. Their efforts ensured that a strong start by reigning WCC Freshman of the Year
Logan Reddemann did not go to waste. Reddemann (1-1) picked up his first win of 2025 after firing six scoreless frames against Pepperdine, scattering three hits while working around two walks and striking out five.
Dallin Harrison took over for Reddemann in the seventh and retired the Waves in order in what ultimately marked their final at-bats of the evening.
Neither team got on the board until the bottom of the third, when the Toreros took a 4-0 lead via RBI singles from Gurevitch and Anzai and a bases-loaded walk from Lobliner.
Four more runs came home for USD in the bottom of the sixth after
Austin Smith slapped an RBI single past the Pepperdine first baseman, Anzai was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and freshman
Rex Watson sent an RBI single of his own to center field.
Gurevitch delivered the game's final blow with a two-out, two-RBI double that split the right-center field gap.
Isaiah Lane and
Connor Meidroth dashed home after the ball found the outfield grass, giving the Toreros the requisite 10-run lead to end Saturday night's game after just seven innings.
