USD Golf Places Tied-For-Third at Wyoming Cowboy Classic

Abuan shoots rounds of 70, 69, and 70 to pace Toreros in top-three finish at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes

MARICOPA, Ariz. — Top-50 finishes from each of USD's five golfers pushed San Diego Golf to a tied-for-third finish of 23 total teams at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club (Par 72, 7337 Yards) in Maricopa Arizona on Tuesday afternoon. 

Sophomore Ryan Abuan led the way for the Toreros, shooting three consistent rounds of 70, 69, and 70 for a total of 209 strokes that was seven under par and tied-for-seventh-place overall. 

True freshman Cooper Humphreys was just behind for USD with a top-11 finish of his own, carding a five-under 211 after rounds of 69, 73, and 69 strokes to place tied for 11th.  

Graduate Jaden Cantafio carded the next best score for USD at T-21 after turning in a three-under 213 (69, 72, 72), followed by You Seong Choi at T-35 (-1, 67, 76, 72, 215). 

Ian Maspat rounded out San Diego's results with a fifth top-50 finish at T-46 (+2, 71, 71, 76, 218).

The Toreros will be back in action on Monday April 14, 2025, when they travel to El Macero, California to begin play in the El Macero Classic at El Macero Country Club.
