EL MACERO, Calif. — A top-10 finish from graduate student
Jaden Cantafio headlined a well-rounded performance from San Diego golf on Sunday afternoon at the El Macero Classic, leading five top-50 finishes for the Toreros as they claimed a fourth place finish of 17 total teams at El Macero Country Club (Par 72, 6862 yards).
Cantafio, the Tustin, CA, native, carded rounds of 68, 73, and 76 for a total of 217 strokes that was one over par and tied for ninth place.
As a team, USD combined for rounds of 282, 291, and 304 for a total of 877 strokes that was 13 over par and good for fourth place of the 17 team field.
Ian Maspat set forth San Diego's next strongest performance, carding a three-over 219 after rounds of 70, 75, and 74 strokes to finish tied for 16th.
Sophomore Ryan Abuan was just behind at T-26, turning in a six-over 222 (72, 73, 77), which was closely followed by true freshman Cooper Humphreys at T-31 (+7, 74, 72, 77, 223), and sophomore You Seong Choi at T-40 (+9, 72, 73, 80, 225).

San Diego's fourth place finish at the El Macero Classic concludes its 2024-2025 regular season schedule. The Toreros will now look to defend their West Coast Conference title as they travel to Fairfield, CA, on April 24 to begin play in the WCC Tournament at Green Valley Country Club.
