USD Football Announces Full 2025 Schedule

Season set to begin on August 30 against Cal Poly at Torero Stadium

SAN DIEGO — San Diego football on Friday afternoon unveiled its full 2025 schedule, as announced by head coach Brandon Moore.

USD will play six home games at Torero Stadium and will round out its 12-game slate with six games outside America's Finest City.

The Toreros will play four non-conference games before Pioneer Football League action begins. The season opener will be on Aug. 30 at 5 p.m. against Cal Poly at Torero Stadium.

Last season, USD opened the schedule with a back-and-forth 27-21 home victory against the Mustangs in front of a sold-out crowd where Matt Ballentine recorded a critical pick-six to take a two-possession lead in the fourth quarter.

San Diego ultimately begins the season with a two-game homestand with the latter coming against Southern Utah on Sept. 6.

San Diego then travels back-to-back weeks playing at Montana State and heading cross country to Princeton Sept. 13 and 20, respectively. Last season, Montana State reached the NCAA FCS Championship game as the No. 2 seed before losing to top-seeded North Dakota State, 35-32.

Then, the PFL schedule begins for the Toreros, against St. Thomas on Sept. 27 at Torero Stadium.

That will be followed by a trip to Poughkeepsie, NY for a road game against Marist on Oct. 4. The following week, USD returns home to face PFL foe Drake during Homecoming and Parents weekend on Oct. 11. San Diego saw its comeback against Drake fall just short last season as the Bulldogs kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired, losing 30-27.

The home-road schedule continues the rest of the way for USD. After a bye week, USD travels to North Carolina to face Davidson on Oct. 25 before hosting Dayton on Nov. 1. Last year, the Toreros defeated Davidson 40-13, highlighted by a 30-point second quarter, which was the most points scored in a single quarter in program history since 2007.

Among the Toreros' final three games, San Diego will travel to Indiana to face Valparaiso before hosting Butler in the final regular season home game on November 15. It will be the first meeting between the two schools in three years, since Valparaiso defeated USD 28-21. However, San Diego has won eight of the last 10 meetings against the Beacons.

The season finale takes place in DeLand, FL for a road matinee against Stetson. The Toreros capped off their home slate last year by scoring 45 unanswered points, en route to a dominating, 45-6 win, against the Hatters. That also put the finishing touches to a perfect 6-0 home record.

The Toreros are coming off a 2024 season where they went 8-3 overall and 6-2 in the PFL, which was good for second place in head coach Brandon Moore's second season. It was also a season where Ja'seem Reed and Eric Haney were named as the PFL's offensive and defensive Players of the Year, respectively.
