Toreros Begin Fall Play at 2025 Battle in the Bay Classic

Senior Neo Niedner goes 3-1 as USD finishes play in 2025 Battle in the Bay Classic

SAN FRANCISCO — A strong performance from Neo Niedner led the way for San Diego men's tennis over the weekend as it concluded play in the 2025 Battle in the Bay Classic. 

Niedner led the way for USD with a win in the round of 32 main draw over Arizona State's Jelani Sarr to kick off the tournament on Thursday afternoon. He finished the tournament by going 3-1 in singles. 

Despite losing their opening match of the main draw, a duo of Stian Klaassen and Adrien Berrut made some noise in the doubles consolation bracket, as they bounced back with back-to-back victories to reach the double's consolation final, where they ultimately dropped a 7-5 decision, finishing the weekend with a record of 3-2.  

Berrut and Klaassen both found success in the singles consolation bracket, reaching the semi-finals and quarterfinals of the bracket, respectively. Berrut completed his weekend with a 2-2 record in singles, while Klaassen was just behind, going 1-2.
