FAIRFIELD, Calif. – No. 16 San Diego men's tennis punched its ticket to the West Coast Conference Championship match with a 4-0 semifinal victory over No. 55 Loyola Marymount on Thursday at Green Valley Country Club.
 
The top-seeded Toreros (19-5), who also swept the fourth-seeded Lions (17-5) 4-0 in Los Angeles on April 10, made it two dominant results in as many meetings this spring. USD makes its 11^th straight WCC Tournament title match since 2014, in which it will face a ranked Pepperdine or Santa Clara squad Saturday morning.
 
The Toreros secured the doubles point on courts three and one to set the tone. Freshmen Vincent Marysko and Manvydas Balciunas opened the scoring on court three with a commanding 6-2 win over Darius Tamaddon and Jakub Hrynkiewicz.
 
The nationally ranked No. 32 pairing of Lambert Ruland and Adrien Berrut then closed it out on main court, edging Emil Kindhult and Cesar Cruz in a tight tiebreak, 7-6 (7-5), to claim the doubles point. Court two was left unfinished at 6-6.
 
San Diego carried the momentum into singles, where Berrut led the charge on court four with a dominant 6-0, 6-3 dismissal of Hrynkiewicz — dropping just three games across two sets.
 
Ruland backed up his doubles effort on court five, taking down Cyrus Ahmad 6-3, 6-2 for his second win of the day. Niedner then wrapped up the sweep on court six with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Tristan Messerli to clinch the result for the second time against LMU this season. The top three courts were left unfinished with the outcome already decided.

The Toreros will face either No. 2 seed Pepperdine or No. 3 Santa Clara – both of whom split the WCC regular season title with the Toreros three ways at 6-1 – in the conference championship match tomorrow at 10 a.m.. San Diego will aim for its third straight tournament championship, ninth in the last 10 tournaments.
