MORAGA, Calif. — San Diego women's tennis got back into the win column in conference play after a 7-0 sweep against Saint Mary's on Thursday.
 
In a match where the Gaels were forced to forfeit the last court of both doubles and singles due to roster limitations, the Toreros took advantage of the situation.
 
After being up on a walkover in doubles on court three, freshmen Vilma Krebs Hyllested and Maria Shmakova combined for their sixth win as a duo after winning comfortably 6-1 on court two to clinch the doubles point for San Diego.
 
With a 2-0 lead after the default win in singles on court six, Shmakova continued her winning ways in the dual with a 6-2, 6-3 victory on court four to increase the lead to 3-0. Hannah Read extended her team-leading win total in singles on the season to 12 with a pair of commanding 6-1 sets to clinch the dual for USD.
 
The remaining matches played on, as sophomore Anni Moll followed up her doubles partner's victory with a win of her own with a 6-4 first set before dominating the second set 6-1 to make it 5-0 San Diego. 
 
The last two matches included two freshmen Toreros battling in a 10-point match tiebreak in the last set, as Krebs Hyllested won 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 [10-4] and Ines Leon won 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 [10-8] to improve to 2-0 in conference on the season and to wrap up the day's slate of matches.
