SACRAMENTO, Calif. — San Diego men's rowing's fastest head to Lake Natoma this weekend for the 2026 IRA National Championships, competing in the first varsity four on Friday and Saturday, May 29-30, in the Sacramento-area waters the Toreros know well from regular season competition.
The Toreros' first varsity four — coxed by Jonah McDonnell and comprised of stroke Jadyn Conover, Jack Roach, Rex Bales and Henry Michaud at bow — earned their spot at the IRA by qualifying through the spring regular season. The championship field brings together the top varsity programs in the country, making it the premier event on the collegiate rowing calendar.
Racing begins for the Toreros on Friday, May 29, with the time trial at 11:30 a.m., followed by the semifinal between 4:00 and 4:32 p.m. Saturday's final is scheduled for between 10:32 and 11:30 a.m. Exact start times are dependent on previous round results.
