SAN DIEGO — The Los Angeles Chargers will return to Torero Stadium for a pair of open training camp practices on Tuesday, Aug. 4 and Wednesday, Aug. 5, marking the second consecutive summer in which the NFL franchise has brought camp to the University of San Diego.

Both sessions are scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon and are free of charge. Registration for tickets is open to the public at chargers.com/camp.

The trip carries a familiar resonance for Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh, who launched his head coaching career at USD. Harbaugh led the Toreros from 2004-06, compiling a 29-6 record and delivering back-to-back Pioneer Football League championships in 2005 and 2006 — the first two conference titles in program history. USD went 11-1 in each of those seasons and put together a school-record 18-game winning streak along the way before Harbaugh departed for Stanford following the 2006 campaign. He is now entering his third season leading the Chargers.

Fans attending either session at Torero Stadium will have access to exclusive merchandise at an on-site team store, a rotating lineup of local food trucks and post-practice autograph opportunities in designated areas. Each attendee will also receive a special limited-edition poster while supplies last.

The practices continue a long run of professional sports events at Torero Stadium. The venue has previously hosted San Diego Loyal SC of the USL Championship, served as a temporary home for the NWSL's San Diego Wave FC in 2022, and welcomed the San Diego Legion of Major League Rugby and the California Redwoods of the Premier Lacrosse League.

The stadium's most recent turn on the international stage came just weeks ago, when Torero Stadium served as the official FIFA World Cup Team Base Camp for the New Zealand Men's National Team. The All Whites trained on campus throughout their tournament run, and more than 1,000 fans packed the stadium in June for the squad's public training session.
