LIMA, Peru — San Diego volleyball finished off a perfect run through pool play at the 2026 FISU America Games on Wednesday, sweeping Colombia 25-19, 25-14, 25-14 to win Group A and move to 3-0 in Lima. Competing as Team USA, the Toreros hit .352 for the match, their best mark of the tournament, and held Colombia to a minus-.051 clip.
Colombia never solved San Diego's front line, managing 17 kills against 21 attack errors on 78 swings. The Colombians did not hit better than .000 in any of the three sets, bottoming out at minus-.100 in the third.
The Toreros, meanwhile, saved their sharpest volleyball for last, closing the match with 14 kills on 20 swings and only two errors for a .600 third set after posting .308 and .200 marks in the first two.
Kierstyn Barton was as efficient as she has been all week, converting seven of her 12 swings with a lone error for a .500 clip while adding two aces, six digs and a pair of blocks.
Meghan Scholz went 7-for-9 without an attack error, her second straight match without one, and chipped in three blocks.
Ryann Knuth led the Toreros with three aces and added five kills and six digs, handling all nine of her serve-receive chances cleanly.
Emma Brewer put down five kills at a .308 clip in two sets of work, and
Nemo Beach contributed six digs, four kills, an ace and a block.
Kylie Munday turned in a clean sheet at setter, distributing 28 assists without a setting error and adding seven digs.
Lauren Lynch took a team-high 14 reception attempts and passed at .857.
The sweep also gave three Toreros their first action of the Games.
Allie Dunnion made the most of hers with three kills on six swings and two blocks across two sets,
Ava Durgan put down her only attempt, and
Tatum Lane saw a set of work.
STATISTICAL STANDOUTS AFTER GROUP PLAY
San Diego closed the group stage having hit .295 over 10 sets while holding its three opponents to .102, and out-dug them 138-98 along the way.
Barton leads the team with 32 kills and is hitting .343. Scholz has been close to unstoppable in the middle, putting down 19 kills on 27 swings against two errors for a .630 clip, with
BayLea Sparks not far behind at .480 on 25 attempts. Brewer has 23 kills and 25 digs, and Knuth is hitting .355 while remaining perfect in serve receive, handling all 24 balls served her way without an error.
Munday has distributed 105 assists, an average of 10.5 per set. Lynch leads the back row with 29 digs and has taken 48 reception attempts, most on the team.
