CARY, N.C. — San Diego women's tennis competed at the 2026 ITA Women's All-American Championships, where three Toreros took the court and the doubles pairing of Hannah Read and Vilma Krebs Hyllested battled through qualifying to reach the main draw.

Read and Krebs Hyllested started in prequalifying and won their way through. In the round of 32 against Virginia, they dropped the first set 2-6, then took the second 6-1 and closed it out 10-2 in the match tiebreaker. The next day, they advanced to the round of 16 when LSU's pairing withdrew due to injury.

In the qualifying draw, the Toreros again came from behind. They dropped the first set 2-6 against another doubles pairing from LSU, then won the second 6-4 and took the tiebreaker 10-7. The following day saw the San Diego duo earn a main-draw spot with a straight-sets win over Georgia's duo, 6-4, 6-4. In the main draw round of 32, Read and Krebs Hyllested's run came to an end when they lost to Duke, 6-7 (4-7), 3-6.

In singles play, nationally ranked No. 119 Read had a strong showing, as she lost a tight round of 64 qualifying match to Oregon State, 6-7 (3-7), 4-6. She moved to the consolation draw and took the first set 7-6 (7-5) over Colorado before her opponent retired from injury.

Reigning WCC First Team singles player Charlotte Keitel opened prequalifying with a 3-6, 2-6 loss to Colorado but flipped the script in the consolation draw the next day with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Washington.

Krebs Hyllested fell to UNC 1-6, 3-6, in the round of 64 of qualifying. In the consolation round of 32, she battled Cal for three sets, winning the first set 6-1, dropping the second 2-6, and falling in a third-set tiebreaker, 6-7 (6-8).

While three Toreros competed at the ITA All-American Championships, San Diego will have six Toreros compete in the USTA SoCal tournament (Sept. 24-27) and others at the San Diego Veterans Tennis Classic (Oct. 2-4).
