TULSA, Okla. — San Diego men's tennis took the national stage at the 2026 ITA Men's All-American Championships as four Toreros competed, led by a doubles run to the quarterfinals from Lambert Ruland and Adrien Berrut.

Ending last season as the nationally ranked No. 38 pair and WCC First Team doubles recipients, Ruland and Berrut went straight into the main draw and opened in the round of 32 with a tight victory over Virginia's No. 53 duo. The Toreros took the first set 6-3, dropped the second set 6-7, then closed it out 10-8 in the match tiebreaker.

They followed with a straight-sets win over Wake Forest's No. 74 pair in the round of 16, 6-3, 6-4. In the quarterfinals, Ruland and Berrut faced the No. 20 duo from Clemson, but lost to a pair of 3-6 sets.

In singles play, reigning WCC Freshman of the Year Manvydas Balciunas, ranked No. 101, opened main-draw play in the round of 64 with a statement win against Purdue's No. 107, 6-3, 6-1. In the round of 32, Balciunas faced the No. 48 Viktor Markov from Clemson, taking the first set 6-2 but dropping the second 3-6 and losing a close third-set tiebreaker, 6-7 (3-7).

Balciunas moved to the consolation draw the next day and beat Ohio State's Denis Petak, 7-5, 6-0. A few hours later, his tournament ended with a 3-6, 4-6 loss to No. 113 Jules Leroux from North Carolina State in the consolation round of 16.

Berrut, a 2026 All-WCC Honorable Mention singles player, competed as the 21st seed in the tournament's prequalifying flight. He lost in the round of 265, dropping the first set 3-6 and the second 4-6. The following day, he finished the tournament on a high note, defeating Michigan State's Piotr Andrzejewski in the consolation draw, 6-4, 6-1.

San Diego sophomore Vincent Marysko competed in two separate singles qualifying round brackets. In the East round of 64, Marysko lost a close match, 6-7 (9-11), 4-6, and in the West round of 32 the following day, he won the first set 7-6 but dropped the next two, 0-6, 3-6, ending his tournament.

San Diego will begin a multi-tournament stretch in early October, with Luc Wieland and Berrut heading to the Battle in the Bay classic in San Francisco (Oct. 1-4). Botond Nagy and Nico Baena will compete in the San Diego Veterans Tennis Classic at the Hogan Tennis Center (Oct. 2-4).
