Fourth year swimmer for the Toreros

What is your most memorable moment in your USD swimming or diving career?

Every moment I have had on the team has been memorable and amazing. I especially love our bus rides. One favorite bus memory was singing 'I Had The Time Of My Live' with teammate Erin Voyles after watching Dirty Dancing on the bus. She and I pretty much got the entire bus singing for the remainder of the bus ride back to USD. And every conference swim meet because we get to have fun showing all the hard work we have done for the whole year. I love my swim and dive family!

What is your favorite food in general or pre-swim meet meal?

My favorite food in general is definitely Mexican food. There[apos]s nothing quite like a giant California burrito. But I love having any kind of pasta before a meet.

Where is your favorite place to vacation?

Cape May, NJ is my favorite place to vacation. I always go with my family and love the beaches there and just relaxing.

What makes the USD swim/dive experience so unique?

Definitely the team. We have such a dynamic group of girls who add something special to the team and make it fun and keep me going during those hard practices and meets.

What is your favorite animal?

I love cats, have had a cat all my life. And pandas, I know they are bears, but man they look so cuddly!

Swam for Del Sol High School... sophomore year was named Most Dedicated... team MVP her junior and senior years... holds all swimming records at her school.

Born in Torrance, CA on May 5, 1988 to Frank and Liz Martinez... Contributed as team captain for the state champion Clark County Sandpipers... Chose USD for its aesthetic value, proximity to the beach and swimming program... Also recruited by Pacific and Vassar ... Psychology major and Leadership Studies minor.
