What is your most memorable swimming/diving moment? Why?
My most memorable moment was at the State Championship meet with my high school, after we won the state championship title and set a Pennsylvania record for all sports of the most consecutive state titles accomplished. That feeling with my team was incomparable… we all did the “hurricane rumble”, our notorious cheer, and celebrated by jumping into the water as a team.
Describe yourself as an athlete and as a student.
As a student-athlete, I have always had a strong work ethic and put my best into everything. It's tough to successfully balance school and swim, especially with a tough major, but I do my best to make it work and spend a lot of time working hard, both in and out of the pool.
What piece of coaching and/or personal advice has stuck with you over the years?
My grandfather used to come to all my swim meets, and he would always say to me before my races, “head and heart”. It meant to use my head to really think about what I'm doing, but to use my heart to find my passion and remember why I started swimming in the first place.
What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?
In ten years, I hope to be a successful anesthesiologist working in a great hospital and helping people, and hopefully having or starting a family of my own. My ultimate goal is to be truly happy, which is how I define ultimate success.
