Position:
Coordinator of Student-Athlete Development

Greg Camarillo originally joined the athletic department in 2014 as a graduate student intern in charge of creating the alumni mentoring program, MENTOReros. His role has since grown as he is now the Coordinator of Student-Athlete Development, a position that includes academic counseling and creating personal, leadership and career development opportunities for our student-athletes.

Greg's passion for working with student-athletes stems from his success in both academics and athletics. Originally a walk-on receiver/punter at Stanford University, Greg went on to become a key receiver for the Cardinal football team while majoring in Product Design Engineering. After college, Greg went on to spend 8 years in the NFL playing for the Chargers, Dolphins, Vikings and Saints. After hanging up his cleats, Greg returned to San Diego to get a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from San Diego State University.

Greg's desire to advise student-athletes stems from the relationships he has with the people who helped him succeed in both school and athletics, relationships he still maintains today. "No one succeeds as a student-athlete by him or herself. It takes a team to support our student-athletes and help them achieve their personal best. I enjoy being part of the journey, doing all I can to help a student really enjoy the college experience."

On a personal note, Greg and his wife, Sharon, have been married since 2011 and have 3 daughters (Avery, Cameron and Sloane).
