Mathew Troupe rejoins the University of San Diego Baseball Program in 2021 as Director of Player Development after spending the 2019 season as Director of Baseball Operations for the Toreros.

Mathew was selected by the New York Yankees with the 539th overall pick in the 17th round of the 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft, however he chose to continue his education as a scholar-athlete at the University of Arizona.

A four-year member of the University of Arizona baseball program under Hall of Fame Head Coach Andy Lopez, Mathew emerged as the team's closer during the beginning of his freshman season. He earned two victories in the 2012 College World Series closing out the first game in extra Innings against Florida State and also closing out the final game of the National Championship against South Carolina, helping the Wildcats capture the 2012 National Title. He finished his career with a 12-1 record and 15 saves while striking out 93 through 74 Innings pitched.

Mathew also spent two summers playing for the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Collegiate Summer League in 2012 and 2013. In 2013 he earned Cape Cod East All Star and All-League recognition after posting a 1.35 ERA with 11 Saves and striking out 32 hitters in 20 innings of work. Troupe received the team's Tom Yankus Pitching Award and the Charles F. Moore, Jr. Award for outstanding performance on and off the field, and the league's Manny Robello 10th Man Award that season.

After graduating from U of A in 2015, Troupe decided to transfer to Cal State University Northridge to take on a player-coach role under head coach Greg Moore.

In 2017, he joined the Emory University baseball coaching staff as the pitching coach where he helped Emory to a 27-14 record and a berth to the NCAA Tournament. While there he guided sophomore Billy Dimlow to one of the finest pitching seasons in program history, earning Billy First Team All-America recognition and Pitcher of the Year honors. Freshman Richard Brereton earned UAA Rookie of the Year after his great season on the mound. Emory, as a staff, ranked among the nation's leaders at year's end in several statistical categories including shutouts (6th, 7), strikeouts-per-nine innings (7th, 8.8), strikeout-to-walk ratio (15th, 2.77), earned-run average (28th, 3.49) and WHIP (39th, 1.36).

For the 2018 summer season, Troupe joined the Arroyo Seco Saints from the California Collegiate League as Head Pitching Coach.

In the summer of 2019, Troupe joined the Orleans Firebirds in the Cape Cod Collegiate League as Head Pitching Coach under head coach Kelly Nicholson. The pitching staff led the league in ERA and two pitchers were selected to the All-Star Game. Six players from the pitching staff were selected in the 2020 MLB Draft, as well as three more free agent signings.

In the fall of 2019, Troupe accepted an opportunity to join the Great Britain Senior National Team coaching staff as the Head Pitching Coach. In the 2019 European Championships, Great Britain finished 5-4 to keep its place in the 2021 European Championships.

Troupe is a native of Northridge, Calif. and the son of Mark and Lyndy Troupe. In 2019, Troupe was inducted into the Chaminade College Preparatory (West Hills, Calif.) Hall of Fame.
