Mark Lamoreaux joined the USD staff in 2014 as Director of Athletic Performance. With over 15 years of experience as an accomplished strength and conditioning coach at the college level, Coach Lam’s main goal is to protect Torero athletes from the potential of injury and to produce athletic based results. He employs a comprehensive training plan that utilizes research-based strength training, power development, function movement/corrective exercises and performance-based nutrition. It is a structured approach that enhances the players' physically and mentally.
Prior to USD Lamoreaux was at Stanford University where he assisted with football and helped the Cardinal to back-to-back Rose Bowl appearances. Additionally, he oversaw and directed the wrestling team. Prior to that, he was the associate director of strength and conditioning at Nevada from 2008-12, working specifically with the football, men’s basketball and baseball programs. In addition, he directed the sports nutrition efforts for the entire athletic department.
Lamoreaux started his college coaching career at his alma mater, Humboldt State, in January 2001 as a student assistant. Upon finishing his eligibility he became the graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach. From there he joined the Auburn University staff as a summer intern working with its football team and later returned to assist with training for football, baseball, softball and leading women’s golf and Equestrian.
Lamoreaux then moved to Golden West College as the head of speed, strength and conditioning for three years from 2006-2008. While with the Rustlers, Coach Lam specifically trained the football and women’s basketball teams.
Lamoreaux attended Humboldt State University from 2001-02 where he was a two-year starter at defensive end. He earned the team’s Defensive Captain Award and during his senior campaign was recognized as an All-Conference performer and Academic All-American. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from Humboldt State in 2003, and obtained his master's degree in Kinesiology from Humboldt State in 2006.
Lamoreaux is certified by the NSCA (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist), USA Weightlifting (Level 1 & Performance Coach), and N.E.S.T.A (Certified Fitness Nutritionist).
Lamoreaux and his wife, Lolani, have two children, son Mack and daughter Lola.
