• Attended Seton Catholic College Preparatory High School in Vancouver, Wash. where he set the school record in the 800m in his very last race during his senior season
• Helped the cross country team take first place as the Academic State Champions in his junior and senior seasons 
• Competed in the cross country and track and field state meets in his junior and senior seasons
• First Honors all four years, Washington State Honors Award
• Earned the Most Inspirational and the Most Improved awards for Cross Country and Track in his Junior and Senior seasons

PERSONAL

• Born to Larry Dortmund and Rebekah Dortmund in Portland, Ore.
• His favorite things to do in San Diego are going to the beach or Balboa Park
• Says he would compete in long jump if he did not run
• Is of royal blood on his mom's side, and is thus, by descent, a prince (Infante) of Spain, Germany, and France ... Claims that among his ancestors are Charlemagne, William the Conqueror, Charles V, the Catholic Monarchs of Spain, Philip the Handsome, etc.
