Biography
JUNIOR (2024-25)
- WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention
- Competed in 10 events for the Toreros
- Opened the season as the coxswain in the Club 4 race, which took fourth place out of 50 teams in the Head of the Charles Regatta (October 21)
- Logged a first-place finish of the 1V4+ boat of the Collegiate 4+ race at the Head of the American Regatta (October 26)Â
- Placed fourth out of 17 teams in the 1V8+ race as the coxswain of the San Diego Fall Classic (November 10)
- Recorded a third place finish in the first 2V8+ race during the San Diego Crew Classic (March 29-30)
- Registered two second place finishes in the 1V8+ races during the Triton Invite (April 26-27)
- Placed third in the first 1V8+ race of the WCC Championships (May 16-17)
SOPHOMORE (2023-24)
- Competed in five of her team's six events
- Recorded three wins in the 2V4+ at the UCSD Invitational (April 20-21)
- Registered a couple of third-place finishes to end the season at the WIRA Championships (April 27-28) and the WCC Championships (May 18)
FRESHMAN (2022-2023)
- Served as coxswain in five of the Toreros’ races in the 2V4 and 3V8
HIGH SCHOOL
- Attended Westwood High School in Mesa, Arizona
- Was an International Baccalaureate Diploma Recipient, a recipient of Best Women's in History project in the Arizona State National History Day Competition, a Member of the National Honors Society, and a recipient of the University of San Diego's Alcalá Award
- Helped her high school team to a fourth-place finish at the San Diego Fall Classic as a freshman
PERSONAL
- Born to Holly and Graham Melstrand in nearby La Jolla, CA
- Father is an accomplished endurance track cyclist in both individual and team pursuit and has won a pair of California state championships in addition to finishing as a national championship medalist in the Team Pursuit
