HOW DO I GET RECRUITED TO USD?
 
Junior Rowers
  1. Fill out our RECRUITING QUESTIONNAIRE
  2. Email Recruiting Coordinator, Charlotte Smith: charlottesmith@sandiego.edu

Undergraduate Transfers
 
If you would like to transfer to USD from your current institution:
  1. Current NCAA student-athletes must be entered in the NCAA transfer portal. Meet with your current NCAA compliance office regarding the process.  They will be required to enter you into the NCAA Transfer Portal.
 
Begin at USD January 2027, enter transfer portal Dec 1st – Dec 15th
Begin at USD August 2027, enter transfer portal Dec 1st – Dec 15th or May 28th - June 26th

Please include the following information:
  • Year of high school graduation (or equivalent schooling)
  • Month and year you started full-time enrollment at your current university
  • A brief description of your rowing history
If you are uncertain of any rules or are currently enrolled at a non-NCAA institution, please contact Recruiting Coordinator, Charlotte Smith. 
 
Graduate Transfers
 
If you want to continue to row after graduation from your current institution:
  1. Current NCAA student-athletes must be entered in the NCAA transfer portal.  Meet with your current NCAA compliance office regarding the process.  They will be required to enter you into the NCAA Transfer Portal.
You may enter the transfer portal at any time prior to July 1st, 2026.
  1. Email Recruiting Coordinator Charlotte Smith.  Please include the following information:
  • Year of high school graduation (or equivalent schooling)
  • Month and year you started full-time enrollment at your current university
  • A brief description of your rowing history
If you are uncertain of any rules or are currently enrolled at a non-NCAA institution, please contact Recruiting Coordinator, Charlotte Smith.
 
Out-of-Sport Transfers
We recruit tall (5’9”+), strong, fit athletes with no rowing experience. We require out-of-sport athletes to be free of medical disqualifications and to have a proven history of athletic or military commitment and success.
