Christopher Alvarado has served as Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations at the University of San Diego since July 2024. In his role, Alvarado is the primary facility manager for Torero Stadium and the Reggie Smith Softball Complex, overseeing gameday operations for USD football, women's basketball, softball and swimming & diving, while also supervising the department's student staff.
Alvarado develops and executes preventative and corrective maintenance plans for USD's athletic facilities, manages the vendor procurement process for facility and operational projects, and assists in oversight of the department's expenditure budget. He also oversees the department's vehicle fleet and has recruited, hired and supervised more than 40 student workers.
A former Torero himself, Alvarado was a NCAA Division I football student-athlete at USD from 2019 to 2022. He joined the athletic facilities and operations staff as a student assistant in June 2021, later served as an Athletic Facilities and Operations Intern from December 2023 to July 2024, and was promoted to his current role that July.
Alvarado earned his bachelor's degree in sociology from USD in December 2023.
