Daniel Nunes joined University of San Diego Athletics in August of 2025 as the department's Senior Associate Athletic Director for Revenue Generation and Innovation and Chief Revenue Officer.
Prior to USD, Nunes served as Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs at Northwestern University, where he provided leadership and strategic direction across marketing, communications, sponsorship, ticketing, licensing, and creative services. During his tenure, Northwestern achieved record-breaking results, including $15.7 million in ticket sales and contributions, which marked the highest total in department history. He led the external team in launching a nationally recognized temporary lakefront football stadium in just 60 days, generating $10.8 million in ticket sales and contributions, selling out three of five games, and creating Lakeside Gameday, an enhanced fan experience that drove more than $900,000 in revenue. Additionally, during his tenure, men’s basketball saw ticketing growth, boosting attendance by 7.5% in 2024–25 and generating $4.3 million in ticket sales, including four home sellouts.
Nunes originally joined Northwestern in 2022 as Associate A.D. for Marketing and Fan Engagement, delivering significant increases in basketball and volleyball revenue and attendance, a 12% lift in digital ticket sales, and campaigns for new premium football experiences like the Randy Walker Terrace.
Before his time in Evanston, Nunes spent five years at Southern Methodist University (SMU) as Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing and Creative Services, where he oversaw ticketing, fan engagement, gameday presentation, MustangVision production, and community outreach, while also serving as secondary sport administrator for cross country and track & field.
Nunes began his career at Louisiana State University (LSU), where he advanced from intern to Director of Marketing, leading promotional and marketing efforts for all sports programs.
Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Nunes earned both his undergraduate degree in Public Relations and his Master of Science in Sport Management from LSU.
He and his wife, Julie, have two daughters, Stevie and Reese, and a golden retriever, Lucy.
