Hannah Akamine serves as Assistant Director for Development at USD Athletics, a role she was promoted to in June 2026. She joined USD Athletics in September 2025 as Assistant Director of Development, supporting the fundraising goals and overall strategy of the Torero Athletic Fund by identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors and prospective donors.
Akamine oversees the sport liaison function across the athletics development team, establishing consistent expectations, accountability and engagement strategies, and serves as the primary development liaison for softball, volleyball, women's soccer and women's tennis. She works closely with coaches to identify sport-specific fundraising priorities and collaborates with Annual Giving, Alumni Relations, Athletics Marketing and Communications, and other campus partners on fundraising and engagement initiatives, including donor events, gameday hospitality and premium experiences. She also serves as a campus partner on the University of San Diego Alumni Board.
Before joining USD, Akamine spent nearly a year and a half as Business Solutions Manager at Ultimate Staffing, and more than three years as a Recruiter at Aya Healthcare. Earlier in her career, she worked in events for the Oregon State University Foundation and served as a volunteer coach and softball camp director for Oregon State softball during the 2019 season. She also spent two seasons as a San Diego Padres ballgirl, in 2022 and 2023.
Akamine began her collegiate career at the University of Tennessee in 2011 before transferring to Oregon State, where she graduated in 2016 with a degree in liberal studies with a focus in social justice. A four-year Division I softball student-athlete, she played three seasons at Tennessee and one at Oregon State, reaching two postseasons at Tennessee, including a seventh-place finish in 2012 and an appearance in the 2013 National Championship. She earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors during the 2015 season at Oregon State.
Born and raised in Escondido, California, where her parents still reside, Akamine is one of three sisters who played Division I softball — alongside Sarah Akamine at the University of Arizona and Lisa Akamine at Penn State. She and her fiancé, Fabian Solis, have a son, born in February 2025, and are expecting a daughter in January 2027.
