SAN DIEGO—San Diego men's basketball forward Josh Parrish was named to the 2020-21 West Coast Conference All-Academic Team, as announced Wednesday by the conference.
 
In addition to Parrish, Frankie Hughes and Vladimir Pinchuk both earned WCC All-Academic honorable mention for their efforts on the court and in the classroom.
 
Parrish, a graduate transfer to USD this season holds a perfect 4.0 grade point average as he pursues his master's in Leadership Studies. The Arlington, Texas native was one of three players with a 4.0 GPA and also one of three graduate students on the all-academic team.
 
Parrish started all 14 games for the Toreros, averaging 27.6 minutes, 10.5 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, shooting 55.1 percent from the field. He registered seven double-digit scoring efforts, including a season-high 20 points at Portland (Jan. 23).
 
Hughes holds a 3.67 grade point average as he pursues his master's in Leadership Studies. The Cleveland, Ohio native appeared in 12 games for USD, making seven starts and averaged 23.0 minutes, 6.0 poings, 2.4 rebounds per game. The Torero guard scored a season-high 22 points against Nevada (Dec. 14, 2020).
 
Pinchuk has a 3.26 cumulative grade point average as a redshirt junior majoring in Computer Science. The 6-11 center from Schwelm, Germany appeared in all 14 games, starting the last nine games of the season. Pinchuk averaged 20.9 minutes, 7.6 points and 4.9 rebounds pergame, shooting 50.6 percent from the field.
 
It is the first such honor for all three Toreros who made their debut with USD during the 2020-21 season.
 
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his team.
