SAN DIEGO – Torero Men's Basketball this week announced the additions of 6-foot-10 center
Piotr Winkowski and Bosnian League MVP
Vuk Boskovic to the 2025-26 roster as both European, 22-year-old big men arrived on campus for the start of the fall semester at the University of San Diego on the week of Sept. 3.
"The additions of Vuk and Piotr will bolster our frontline depth and versatility," said Head Coach
Steve Lavin. "Over the last six months alone, we have opted into the revenue share program, opened a state-of-the-art Basketball Performance Center and signed a recruiting class of 13 student-athletes to complete our roster reconstruction efforts."
Vuk Boskovic is a 6-foot-7-inch forward that arrives at the Basketball Performance Center on America's Most Beautiful Campus following a Bosnian Division I League MVP season with Borac Nektar Banja Luka. His fourth season with the club in 2024-25 saw him average 14.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in 31 minutes per game, shooting 49.1% from the field and 38.5% from three. Boškovic hails from Bileća, Bosnia and Herzegovina, but plays internationally under the Serbian flag. His sister, Tijana Boskovic, is one of Serbia's top volleyball players.
Piotr Winkowski is a 6-foot-10-inch true center that comes to America's Finest City from Poland League I squad Astoria Bydgoszcz, appearing in 46 games with 12 starts. Last season, the Żyrardów, Poland native averaged 9.5 points and 5.7 rebounds in 16 minutes per game while shooting efficiently around the basket. Over the course of the season, he recorded multiple double-figure scoring games and served as a steady interior presence. His size and consistency allowed him to contribute on both ends, ranking among the team's leaders in rebounding and rim protection.
Winkowski and Boskovic are the final touches on a class of 13 newcomers – nine non-freshman additions with the two Euros and seven transfers – for Lavin's relaunched roster that returns one player that played significant minutes in 2024-25. USD's squad now represents six countries in four continents, with freshman forward
Alejandro Aviles hailing from Puerto Rico, senior guard
Juanse Gorosito from Argentina and junior forward
Assane Diop from Senegal. The Toreros' official practice begins on Sept. 23.
