The USF Dons women's soccer team lost another close West Coast Conference battle Sunday afternoon, falling to the University of San Diego, 2-0. San Diego (8-6-3, 2-3-0 WCC) scored their two goals within ten minute of one another, and USF (5-12-0. 1-4-0 WCC) was unable to rally late. The action in the first half was mainly a defensive struggle, as both teams combined for a total of seven shots in the period.

San Diego would score first in the second half when a long pass from senior forward Katie Allen was deflected in off the head of senior Marie Claude-Henry at the 67:52 mark. At that point, the Dons did try and put together a solid offensive push. Freshman forward Shuree Hyatt narrowly missed tying the game with a header that just went over the cross bar.

With the score still at 1-0, San Diego Sophomore forward Lee Ann Klopschinski fired at USF goaltender Jennifer Orantes, who made the save, but the rebound found its way right back to Klopschinski. She put away the rebound and gave the Toreros the 2-0 lead.

"I think we had something of a letdown after playing well against a top-10 team (Santa Clara). I thought the team that capitalized on their opportunities would win and San Diego was able to and we weren't. Shannon Allen had a great match for us on both sides of the ball and Laura Ott also played a good game for us," Kalinoski said.
