After challenging for the West Coast Conference Championship a year ago, The University of San Diego women's basketball team begins its 2003-04 campaign with an exhibition game against NAIA member Point Loma Nazarene Saturday, November 1st at 2:00 PM. San Diego Head Coach Kathy Marpe, now in her 24th season, has brought in an outstanding freshmen class, including Andrea Jacobson (Brea, CA), Sabine Loewe (Lauchhammer, Germany), Ashley Voisinet (Irvine, CA) and Katie Watson (Bakersfield, CA).

The added height, speed, and athleticism provided by the newcomers complement a very talented group of returning lettermen. Senior center Marta Menuez (Bodega, CA) continues to establish herself as one of the most dominant players in the WCC. Senior forward Melissa Padgett (Reno, NV) and the four returning sophomores will use their game experiences to take the team to the next level. Tiara Harris (Colorado Springs, CO), a conference Freshman of the Year nominee last season, highlights the sophomore class that combined for 31% of San Diego's total offense.
