San Diego, CA- The University of San Diego women's basketball team defeated NAIA member Point Loma Nazarene 66-51 Saturday afternoon at USD's Jenny Craig Pavilion. The exhibition game initiated the 2003-04 season for both clubs. The Toreros were paced by sophomore guard Tiara Harris (Colorado Springs, CO) who buried four three-pointers to total a team-high 14 points. Senior center Marta Menuez (Bodega, CA) gathered in eight rebounds while adding eight points.

Point Loma went 10-25 (40%) from the floor in the second half to make things interesting. The Toreros used a 23-11 second half rebounding advantage and three treys from Harris to pull away for the win. Point Loma received a game-best 17 points and nine rebounds from junior guard Jessica Mercado.

USD returns to action Saturday, November 8 with an exhibition game against UC San Diego at UCSD's RIMAC Arena.
