San Diego Women Fall to USC

LOS ANGELES - Rachel Woodward scored 16 points Saturday while Meghan Gnekow scored 14, including four three-pointers, and the USC Trojans defeated the San Diego Toreros, 82-65, in a non-conference women's basketball game at the Los Angeles Sports Arena.

The Women of Troy improved to 2-3 on the season while USD fell to 2-6 overall.

USC held a 26-21 lead in the first half before pulling away with a 17-6 run for a 43-27 lead at halftime. Freshman Jamie Funn began the first-half streak with back-to-back baskets. The Women of Troy forced 19 turnovers in the first half by the Toreros.

Marta Menuez led USD with 15 points while Brandi Collato scored 14 points.

Ebony Hoffman added 14 points and seven rebounds for the Women of Troy while USC freshman Chloe' Kerr scored 11 points off the bench.
