San Diego, CA- The University of San Diego men's soccer team was upset by Oregon State 2-1 Sunday at USD's Torero Stadium. San Diego's Andrew Ehrich broke a scoreless tie mid-way through the second half when he found the net on a rebound, but Oregon State responded with a pair of unanswered goals to turn away San Diego (0-1-1).
The afternoon match was scoreless at halftime with both teams combining to register just five shots after 45 minutes of play. In the 60th minute OSU keeper Peter Billmeyer managed to save a hard shot by San Diego's Scott Burcar, but Andrew Ehrich collected the rebound and scored from point blank range putting USD ahead 1-0.
Oregon State (1-1-0) would respond in the form of two late goals generated by forward Robbie Findley. In the 69th minute, trailing 1-0, Findley split the Torero defense and scored from ten yards out, beating a diving Lance Friesz. Ten minutes later Oregon State took the lead when Findley assisted Matt Johnson who scored on an open net.
San Diego will next play Friday September 5th at 5:00 p.m. in Torero Stadium against UC Riverside.
