USD, Long Beach State Earn Saturday Morning Wins

San Diego, CA- A full morning of Division I volleyball Saturday at USD's Jenny Craig Pavilion resulted in victories for both San Diego (6-2) and No. 19 Long Beach State (5-1). The host Toreros swept Maryland Eastern Shore (7-5) by game scores of (30-19, 30-15, 30-17). After two and a half hours and five games, Long Beach came away with its second win of the weekend, defeating 6-3 Fresno State (30-23, 24-30, 30-24, 24-30, 15-11).

In the day's opener it was all San Diego. Both Christie Dawson (Apple Valley, CA) and Devon Forster (Boulder, CO) killed 14 for the Toreros. Freshman setter Shannon Ayer (Lake Quivira, KS) came in to pass out 16 assists in her home debut. Twelve San Diego players contributed in the three-game sweep. Freshman Emily Haas (Gardnerville, NV) added eight kills.
