At Sun Devil Soccer Stadium in Tempe, Arizona, San Diego senior Alexis Obeji lofted the ball over Vanderbilt goalkeeper Esther Thompson to score from 10 yards out allowing the Toreros a 1-0 double overtime win. San Diego remains undefeated at 4-0-1 and has yet to yield a goal in five matches this season. San Diego had to fight off not only the Commodores, but also a blistering heat in Tempe, with temperatures reaching 105 degrees.
Vanderbilt (2-2-1) totaled 13 shots in regulation, five on goal, led by Laura Hershenow and Molly Wilson with three each. Jennifer Lewis, Meghan Habig and Lauren Mitchell each totaled two shots and Erin Higgins numbered one shot.
San Diego totaled seven shots, including five on goal. Obeji's game-winner came at the 100:58 mark, beating Thompson, who totaled four saves in the contest. The Torero defense remained perfect and will next be tested Friday September 19th with a 7pm home match against Kansas.
