SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Loyola Marymount Lions used four first half goals to defeat the San Diego Toreros 4-2 on Friday night in Torero Stadium. Diego Barrera and Bobby Burling each scored two goals in the first half for the Lions as they outshot the Toreros 12-9 in the first period.
Michael Caso put USD on the board in the 55th minute as he headed in a pass from Scott Martin for his third goal on the year. Andrew Ehrich added his team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 80th minute to cut the LMU lead to two. San Diego had several more opportunities in the final ten minutes to pull even closer, but was unable to pull off the comeback.
The Toreros ended up outshooting the Lions 20-19 in the match after posting 11 shots in the second half. Ryan Guy led San Diego with six shots, while Michael Caso led USD with three shots on goal.
The Toreros now head up to LMU for a rematch against the Lions on Sunday at 2:00pm.
