USD junior Emma Murphy continued her solid play this fall with two more wins at Friday's first action at the ITA Women's Western Regional Championships being held at the Barnes Tennis Center. Murphy eliminated UCLA's Alex McGoodwin 6-3, 6-2 and dominated UC Irvine's Becky Bernhard 6-1, 6-2. Lauren Kazarian and Lauren Perl both won first round matches before falling in the 2nd round. Kazarian beat UC Irvine's Mijic (6-1, 6-4) before falling to Pepperdine's Kosakowski (6-2, 5-7, 7-5). Perl beat UCLA's Loncaric (6-7, 6-4, 6-2) then lost to LMU's Fermin (1-6, 6-2, 6-4).
Toreros' losing first round singles matches included Tara Livesay (6-1, 6-1 to UCLA's Zalameda) and Brittany Reitz (6-1, 6-2 to ASU's Tomas). In doubles play, Perl-Lindstrand lost to UCSB's Scatliffe-Gruenig (8-0), Reitz-Livesay lost to Pepperdine's Dickes-Dulgheru (no score reported) and Murphy-Kazarian fell to LMU's Kaloi-Arguelles, 8-6.
