(Pacific Palisades, CA) -- USD's Emma Murphy (Cork, Ireland), a junior on the women's tennis team, won her first qualifying singles match today, but dropped her second and failed to reach the main draw of the 2004 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships. After defeating Duke's Celia Deltour on Tuesday, Murphy returned this morning to take on Mississippi State's Zsuzana Fodor and won in straight sets - 6-3, 6-4. Needing one more win to advance to the national tournament's main draw, Murphy battled through 3 sets before losing a hard-fought match to UCLA's Riza Zalameda - 7-6 (5), 5-7, 6-4.
