Berkeley, CA - The USD Toreros Men's Soccer team fell to Stanford 2-0 on Sunday afternoon in Berkeley, California. Both teams went scoreless in the first half, with San Diego outshooting Stanford 5 to 3. Stanford took the lead in the 69th minute on a goal by Darren Fernandez, assisted by Bret Skimisu. It remained a one-goal game until the Cardinal added an insurance goal in the 88th minute by Todd Leber. Senior Kevin Wilson led the Toreros with three shots, including two on goal. Goalie Lance Friesz had four saves for the Toreros.
The Toreros will open up their home season this weekend with a game against Dartmouth at 7:30pm on Friday. On Sunday they will take on Michigan State at 2:30pm. Both games will be played at Torero Stadium and the all new live Gametracker will be available on www.usdtoreros.com.
