PORTLAND, Ore. - Toreros improve to 7-10, 2-2 in WCC play.
Portland outscored the Toreros, 11-8 in the first four minutes of play to regain the lead and opened as much as a seven-point lead mid-way through the second half, but the Toreros outrebounded the Pilots, 33-28 with 16 rebounds coming from the offensive glass. Portland turned the ball over 20 times in the game and USD made them pay, racking up 23 points off Pilot mistakes. The USD bench also provided 19 points of scoring output, while San Diego's dominance in the paint provided the team with 30 points down low.
San Diego saw four players score in double figures, led by Amber Sprague's 21 points and six rebounds. Tiara Harris totaled 17 points, while Polly Dong added 13 points and teammate Brandi Collato chipped in 10 points. The Toreros shot 28-of-64 (44 percent) from the field, 5-of-15 (33 percent) from long range and 20-of-27 (74 percent) from the stripe for the game.
