TEMPE, Ariz. - In a double overtime match, the women's soccer team tied their Sunday afternoon match at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium. Sun Devil (5-4-2) senior Elizabeth Bogus was the first to score in the 25th minute unassisted with a breakaway shot in the lower right corner. The Toreros (3-7-1) responded in the 36th minute when Madeline Buchanan's low line drive, assisted by Amy Epsten, found the net. The first half ended at a 1-1 tie.
Both teams looked for opportunities to break the tie in the second half. Bogus got a rebound from a USD defender and found Lara Kezer open for a shot. USD's Amy Epsten was credited with a goal in the 83rd minute to tie the game. Leigh Ann Robinson looped a long ball over ASU defenders finding Epsten down field for the score.
ASU out-shot the Toreros 22-11, 12 of which came in the second half. Karen Cook had 4 saves in the match. Amy Epsten now has 3 goals this season.
The women's soccer team returns home for their first West Coast Conference match against Santa Clara University in Torero Stadium at 12:00 pm.
