(Portland, OR) The Toreros return home from their road trip with a 3-0 win defeating Portland State Monday afternoon with goals from senior forward Michelle Rowe and freshman forward Kristin Carter.
Kristin Carter, a freshman, found the net in the first two minutes as the women went on the attack immediately. Carter captured a rebound off of a Viking defender and got an unassisted shot off from inside the goalie box in the 2nd minute of the match.
Carter was back on the offensive when from the left side, she booted a long cross to the opposite side of the field. There waiting was Michelle Rowe to rifle a shot past PSU goalie Niki Brooks increasing their lead 2-0.
Late in the second half, forward Amy Epsten charged down field. Rowe again was waiting as Epsten crossed into traffic. From 10-yards out in the center if the penalty box, Rowe shot and scored her 6th goal of the season and capping USD's victory 3-0.
Torero goalie Karen Cook recorded 1 save in the first half. In the second half of action, Brittany Cameron posted 5 saves. Portland state out-shot the Toreros 15-12.
San Diego returns to USD for their final home match of the regular season against Pepperdine on Friday, Oct. 28th at 5:30 pm.
