SAN DIEGO, CA - 15th-ranked San Diego improved to 5-0 at home and has now won 15 consecutive matches at the Jenny Craig Pavilion, dating back to September of 2004, after a convincing 3-0 victory over Portland Friday night. Game scores went (30-19, 30-19 and 30-22). Junior teammates Kristen Carlson (Purcellville, VA/Loudoun Valley) and Christie Dawson (Apple Valley, CA/Granite Hills HS) combined for 25 kills in the USD rout. San Diego (12-2, 2-1 WCC) continues its weekend home stand with a match against Gonzaga Saturday at 7pm.

Portland (3-11; 0-2 WCC) was limited to an attacking percentage of .073 as a team. Two-time returning WCC Defender of the Year Jackie Bernardin (Bakersfield, CA/Centennial HS) posted a match-best 15 digs. USD All-American Lindsey Sherburne (Saratoga, CA/Archbishop Mitty HS) had 40 assists (13.3 apg), setting the Torero offense to a hitting clip of .340.

San Diego entered the weekend ranked No. 15 in the latest national polls released by both the AVCA and Volleyball Magazine. Since October of 2004, the reigning WCC Champion Toreros have reeled off 30 wins in their last 33 matches. Seventh-year Toreros head coach Jennifer Petrie played 14 different USD players Friday night.
