Box Score

Lance Friesz gave up three goals in Sunday's 3-0 shutout against University of San Francisco (6-3-2, 2-1-0 WCC) at Torero Stadium as USD goes 0-2 over the weekend.

The Toreros (5-2-2, 1-2-0 WCC) had 11 shots in the game to the Don's nine, but it was USF's seven saves by goalie Geremy Uhl that kept the Toreros from a win.

In the 43rd minute, USF mid-fielder Matt Languis connected a pass to forward Jordan Keyes. Keyes sent the ball to the middle of the field where forward Aaron Chandler made a break for the goal. With defenders on either side of him, Chandler almost turned the ball over, but managed a shot from 15 yards away past goalie Lance Friesz capturing a 1-0 lead just before the end of the first period. The assists credited to Keyes and Languis.

It was a game of small errors by the Toreros and USF capitalized off one USD turnover in the 75th minute. From 25 yards out, Brandon McDonald drilled a line drive ball into the back of the net unassisted by teammates.

Less than three minutes later, USF mid-fielder Cameron Kolovos found Chandler again at the center of the field. Chandler found a hole for another breakaway taking the ball 30 yards up field. Freisz chose to charge the ball leaving the net open for Chandler who shot from the top of the goal box capping off the Don's win 3-0.

The men's squad travels to Moraga, CA to take on St. Mary's Friday, Oct. 14th at 2:00 pm and will return home for a double header with the women on Sunday Oct. 16th against Loyola Marymount scheduled for 2:30 pm.
